Help identifying pocket watch

This looks like the lid of a pocket watch. Metal looks like silver, but I am not sure (how can I check?)
The outer side shows some kind of ornament, perhaps a logo. Inner side has number 85234 engraved.
Is there any way to identify what kind of watch this was? Brand, make, approximate year etc. I apologize if this message is in the wrong forum (is there a "watches" section?)
Thank you!

Looks like the front or the back lid of an 19th c swiss pocket watch. Certainly silver and most likely .800 in fineness.

Thank you. Why Swiss?

Majority of european watches during that time period were Swiss made. And it looks a lot like the cover on mine. Swiss watches are also notorious for their lack of proper markings.
There's only so much that can be said with certainty from just one piece, however.

That's a beautiful watch, and the resemblance in central shield is most striking. Thank you for the context, and the clue! Much appreciated.
May I ask to see what that watch looks like inside? And is it held by a gold chain? I'm assuming it's your own find, in which case - kudos, what a find!
